This song stole the show… Spellbinding ! Thanks for identifying it..Ronp in Orlando
I HAD to find out who did it!
I even made my husband let the credits roll so that I could hear the whole song…..
I heard it tonight at the end of the show. Googled ‘don’t be cruel magic city’ expecting no chance. Got your post. Thanks. Probably have to find the album now.
Glad you found me! I was shocked that this arrangement was done in 1975 – I figured it was a fairly new release.
I guess it didn’t play on any of the (teeny-bopper) radio stations I was listening to at the time……
Thank you! I couldn’t get the song out of my head. So glad you made my search easy for me!
Thank Google for making the search easy
! (I love the Internet…..)
I’ve been surprised at how many people have visited here – I guess those “Search Tags” really do work -
Just KILLER! I felt like I was in the Japenese Sleeper Hold for a minute. Can you say seratonin? The show is growing on me, nice little edge to it…
Unbelievably good. Had to find out who the artist is. Thank you for sharing. No doubt, we will be hearing more about this version.
That was a great song, I am the same as the rest of you could not get it put of my head. Tried to find the artist in the credits. Got to get it on my ipod. thanks for posting it.
If you have Spotify you can listen to it on there. Love it

I just started watching Magic City . As you know, during the funeral scene in episode 4 this haunting melody came on which I did not immediately recognize as “Don’t be Cruel”.. I have no memory of having heard Billy Swans version before… Let alone from 1975.. Thanks for posting the song … Peace, Rob from New Mexico
Glad to be of some help – I had never heard it before either (and I’m certainly old enough to have heard it the first time!).
I’ll be posting other songs from MC that catch my fancy -
I love this version too. And heard it first on Magic City. Hi mom!
Like I never heard all the words before I heard Swan’s dy-no-mite version. Wow.
It is pretty neat, isn’t it?
